Itineraries

Day 1

Airport pick up

Your driver/guide will be at Entebbe Airport to pick you up from your flight and take you directly to your lodge in Kampala. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may be able to explore the sites in and around Kampala. You will stay in a nice hotel. The hotel has cosy furnished rooms, equipped with satellite TV, fridge bar, telephone, fan, balcony and a comfortable bathroom.

Day 2

Transfer to Murchison Falls NP en route rhino tracking

Today's journey will take you north from Kampala to Murchison falls national park. En route, you will visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will go for guided rhino tracking with an experienced ranger which gives you a unique opportunity to view the rhinos from a close distance. Kidepo Valley and Murchison Falls National Parks once had both black and white rhinos but widespread poaching during the Idi Amin era resulted in the disappearance of these majestic animals from the wild. Founded in 1998, Rhino Fund Uganda works to reintroduce black and white rhinos into Uganda and runs a breeding programme. You will be staying at a great mid range lodge, overlooking the River Nile. Here you can relax during the rest of your day.

Day 2

Morning game drive, Boat safari & Hike to the top of falls

Today you will wake up very early. In the early morning hours animals are the most active, the sun is not yet so bright and temperatures are cooler. It offers the best time to spot wild animals. You will go on a game drive to explore the northern part of the park. You will be eye to eye with the African animal kingdom: elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, different species of antelopes and many tropical birds may all be spotted during the game drive. So keep your eyes open, they are all there in Murchison Falls National Park! In the afternoon you will take a boat safari up the Nile River to Murchison Falls. You will be watched by crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, buffaloes, water birds, monkeys and all the other thirsty wildlife that the Nile attracts, you will reach the base of the 43-meter high Falls which approach with a thunderous sound. After the boat safari you will hike to the top of the falls.

Day 3

Transfer to Budongo Forest Reserve

This morning after breakfast, you will drive south to Budongo Forest Reserve where you will go chimp tracking. Led by your guide, search for these lively primates before overnight in an eco lodge in the heart of the forest. Situated in the heart of Budongo Forest Reserve, part of Murchison Falls National Park, Budongo Eco Lodge provides excellent and pocket friendly accommodation in the midst of one of the largest and most beautiful rain forest locations in Uganda whose incredible biodiversity includes 9 different species of primates, 360 species of birds, over 290 different types of butterflies and some of the oldest trees in Uganda; all within utterly easy access of available forest activities.

Day 4

Transfer to Jinja

After breakfast, you will transfer to Jinja, arriving in the afternoon, settle into your luxurious room at Wildwaters Lodge, your base for the next two nights. In Jinja, the Nile River begins its journey from Lake Victoria all the way up to the Mediterranean Sea. Many activities are available around town. Nestled in luxuriant rainforest on its own private island, mid-stream in the mighty Nile, Wildwaters Lodge is breathtaking. Thick riverine forest naturally covers the island and each of the ten timber-floor rooms is nestled amidst the forest with private, breathtaking views over the River Nile and its rapids. The expansive, canvas walled, traditionally thatched, rooms each boast private decks with elegant free-standing baths and wash basins carved from the local pink granite. Softly lit with hand-made furniture, you can relax in comfort on this island paradise listening to the thunder of the Nile rapids, and the calls of the many species of bird who call the island home.

Day 5

Source of the Nile Boat safari

Today, you will enjoy a boat trip to the source of River Nile. Other excursions you can enjoy whilst here (payable locally) include white water rafting, quad biking, bunjee jumping, sun downer boat cruize, horse riding, cycling and a walk to the market.
